Welcome乐享彩票 to the Honors Program at UMA!
The Honors Program offers students who have demonstrated intellectual potential and personal commitment an enriched academic experience. Students enrolled in the Honors Program take a core of set of Honors courses and augment them with courses that they or UMA instructors have given an Honors designation. This designation means that you will enter more fully and deeply into the content of Honors courses.
The Honors Program is not a separate degree program. Instead, it enriches the course work required for a degree. The HP requirements are flexible to meet the needs of our students—whether they are part-time, full-time, traditional, non-traditional, place-bound, on campus, at a center, or at a distance. Wherever you are in the UMA community, you too can join the Honors Program.
The core curriculum of the Honors Program is centered in interdisciplinary studies. INT studies is devoted to how knowledge is organized—how fields of study relate to each other, how they speak to each other, what values are built into that organization, and why. Interdisciplinary studies is the heart of an Honors education, according to the National Collegiate Honors Council. The Honors Program will train you to think outside the box—a valuable skill in any case, but one that is especially valuable to potential employers.
On the following pages you will find information for students and for faculty about the HP’s organization, its expectations, and its benefits. I hope that you will consider becoming a student in UMA’s Honors Program, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to be in touch with me at . I look forward to hearing from you, and thank you for visiting the Honors Program web page!
